Barre
Barre is a unique type of exercise that is defined by its use of a ballet bar, as well as incorporating movements and positions from ballet and yoga. While barre is typically considered a low-impact activity, it’s full of high-intensity movements and stretches that make it the perfect full-body workout. This may not sound very invigorating at first glance, but barre focuses on a blend of cardio, strength training, and stretching that’s sure to challenge each part of your body.
Barre can also help to improve your agility and endurance, as it’s typically considered a muscle endurance workout. Many exercises in a barre class will seem inconsequential at first due to the small movements and light weights, but those small movements are specifically targeted, and the high number of repetitions will work your muscles more than using a heavier weight.
Because of all of this, barre not only boosts endurance, flexibility, and strength, but it can also improve balance, posture, and your range of motion. As a result, it’s also a great form of exercise for supporting weight management and can even help you tone up your core. No matter what your fitness goals are, barre is a great way to maintain well-rounded fitness and build strength.
At Falls Yoga and Barre, it’s important to us that EVERYONE can be included! Some of the MANY benefits Barre has to offer:
It's a full-body workout: Barre exercises target all major muscle groups, including your arms, legs, glutes, and core. This means you'll get a full-body workout in just one session, which can save you time and help you achieve your fitness goals faster.
It's low-impact: Unlike many other forms of exercise, barre is low-impact, which means it's easier on your joints. This makes it a great choice for people who are recovering from an injury, have joint pain, or simply want a gentler form of exercise.
It improves posture and balance: Barre exercises focus on alignment and posture, which can improve your overall balance and stability. This can be especially beneficial for older adults, who may be more prone to falls.
It boosts mental well-being: Practicing barre can help reduce stress and anxiety, as well as improve overall mental well-being. The mind-body connection that is fostered during a barre workout can help you feel more centered and present in the moment.
It's a fun way to exercise: Barre is a fun and engaging form of exercise that can help you stay motivated and committed to your fitness routine. The music, the community of people, and the challenging yet enjoyable exercises can make barre a highlight of your day.
