  • Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a slow-paced, meditative practice that targets the deep connective tissues of the body, including tendons, faciae, and ligaments. The practice involves holding a series of seated and lying-down postures for extended periods of time, typically ranging from 3-7 minutes each, with the goal of applying moderate stress to the targeted tissues.

In addition to the physical benefits, Yin yoga is also believed to stimulate the channels of the subtle body, known as meridians in Chinese medicine and nadis in Hatha yoga. These channels are said to be responsible for the flow of energy throughout the body, and by stimulating them, Yin yoga practitioners may experience a deeper sense of relaxation and a greater connection to their inner selves.

A typical Yin yoga class may include 5-10 of the 26 poses, each held for several minutes at a time. The room is typically gently heated to promote relaxation and help release tension in the muscles and connective tissues.

  • Restorative Yoga

Restorative yoga is a form of yoga that involves a series of asanas or postures designed to promote physical and emotional relaxation. The practice is geared towards helping individuals to slow down, release tension, and find inner peace.

During a restorative yoga class, participants are guided by an experienced instructor who will help them to get into the right poses using props such as bolsters, blankets, and blocks. These props help to support the body, allowing the participant to relax fully into each pose.

The slow pace of restorative yoga encourages participants to focus on their breath and become more aware of their bodies. The long holds in each pose allow the body to gradually release tension and tightness, leading to a deeper sense of relaxation and ease.

Restorative yoga also works to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for the body's "rest and digest" response. This helps to counteract the effects of stress and anxiety, promoting a sense of calm and tranquility.

  • barre

Barre is a fitness class that is suitable for all fitness levels. The class is typically set to music and is choreographed to provide a full-body workout. The exercises in the class focus on building strength, improving flexibility, and increasing cardiovascular fitness. Barre workouts are low impact, meaning that they are easy on the joints and do not put unnecessary stress on the body.

The exercises in Barre classes are inspired by a variety of disciplines, including yoga, ballet, and Pilates. These exercises are designed to target specific muscle groups, with a particular emphasis on the legs, core, and upper body. The class incorporates a variety of movements, including plies, lunges, squats, and arm exercises, all of which are performed at a slow and controlled pace.
